All Breeds Canine Rescue celebrated its first birthday on September 3 with a party attended by puppies and people.
The celebrations offered the public a chance to check out what Canine Rescue does, with the puppies proving a popular attraction. There were also stalls, food vendors, show bags, pony rides, face painting and a balloon twister.
A lot of our ex rescues came with their new families to join in the cake cutting at midday, and it was so lovely to see them all again, and looking so happy and healthy. There were some very happy raffle winners taking home their prizes at the end of the day,” Administration officer Stella Ware said.
“Due to the amazing people in our local community, who always give us so much support, and the tireless efforts of our awesome volunteers, we raised a total of $4220.47 which goes a long way to help us with our vet bills. But as the vet bills are ongoing, we are already looking at the next fundraiser,” she said.
Ms Ware said All Breeds Canine Rescue would take on any canine in need, regardless of medical status.
“We have had canines into care who have required surgery for hip dysplasia, cruciate ligament repair, luxating patella, pyometra, obstruction in their digestive tract, severe cases of demodex mange, all manner of health issues. We also have a lot of newborn babies into care, who have been born with conditions that mean they cannot feed from their mum such as hair lip or cleft palates.
Ms Ware sited Theodore, Alvin and Brittany who were all born with hair lips and required hand raising from birth. She said the dogs were now big enough to have surgery to repair their hair lips.
“Theodore has had his surgery and he has found his forever home. He will go on to live a full and normal life, due to the skill of our carer that raised him through the very difficult early days of his life.
“We hold fundraisers throughout the year to help us raise enough funds to carry out all of these necessary, lifesaving procedures.
