Greenbank’s Josh Livsey will look to take the next step towards motocross stardom when he competes at the national titles next week.
The 15-year-old Park Ridge State High School student who recently won the Queensland Motocross title in his 13-15 age division earlier this month, will travel to Adelaide to compete for a week at national level on Thursday.
Livsey said he has always had a love of motorbikes and the sport of motocross and is even keen to delve more into Supercross in coming years.
“I’ve been racing since I was five or six years old,” he said.
“Motocross is just fun.
“I’ve done Supercross once, I guess it’s a bit of a goal to get into it.”
Livsey took out the state titles after speeding past his opponents across two legs of competition and is now looking to show his talents on the national stage in Adelaide.
“State was held at Mackay and Hervey Bay,” he said.
“I should go pretty good at nationals, I want to get in the top five, that’s my aim.”
The 15-year-old told the Times he will look to increase his on bike and off bike training in the next 12 months as he plans to take the sports of Motocross and Supercross more seriously going forward.
“I train a bit everywhere, mainly at local tracks, Rathdowney, Kalbar, Queensland Motor Park and at Ripley,” he said.
“I don’t train too much though.”
Now riding a 250cc the Kawasaki Australia sponsored rider said success in motocross is a simple formula.
“Consistency, and getting a good start to each race, and staying on the bike are the keys really.
