Nominations for the Logan Urban Design Awards (LUDA), which recognises exceptional planning and design are now open.
Launched in 2012 to promote design excellence in the City of Logan, the biennial awards are once again looking for the best examples of local urban planning, architecture and design.
Councillor Russell Lutton said the awards aimed to put the spotlight on much-loved urban spaces both large and small.
“From the expansive green spaces and rural areas in the south-west of our city to the more established urban communities in the north, the City of Logan offers a rich canvas for the skilled professionals who shape our private and public spaces,” he said.
“These awards are about finding examples of design excellence that have transformed those spaces and had a positive effect on the surrounding community.
“Whether it’s a master-planned residential estate or creative refurbishment of existing buildings, we want to hear about it.
“As we saw with Grandma’s Kiwi Kitchen the LUDA 2014 overall winner, sometimes great things can come from the small decisions that individuals or families make.”
The awards are open to private sector projects that have been constructed in the City of Logan since 2000.
There are four categories open for nomination – master planning; landscape architecture and urban infrastructure; architecture; business and events.
A single entry from one of the four categories will also be selected as the overall 2016 winner by a judging panel of experts representing relevant professional and peak organisations.
Nominations are now open and will close on Friday, September 16
The winners will be announced at a gala event on October 12 at Beenleigh Town Square.
