Flagstone State School senior students Katherine Russell, Talisha Davis and Elsie Prasser were some of the voices in this year’s Creative Generation - State Schools Onstage (CGen).
The three girls are supported by the school’s special education program and are all passionate about music and singing.
Flagstone’s choir is called Animato Voce and they were part of choir massed b in the soprano section.
The choir of 31 were just some of the 1700 students from 120 schools to take part in the production on July 15 and 16 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Katherine said the hardest part was learning all 29 different songs.
“There were some we hadn’t heard before,” she said.
“The opportunity to be involved in something like CGen was just so great because we don’t always have those opportunities to take on.
“You’ve just got to say yes, because you just learn so much at CGen.”
Talisha said the experience was awesome and she was glad they were perfect on the stage.
Elsie was able to improve her onstage presence and adapted well to the conductor making changes throughout the shows.
SEP Teacher and choir director Megan Siepen was extremely proud of all the Flagstone singers and thanked all the parents for their support.
“The CGen staff were just so supportive of all our requests, especially with Katherine’s chair,” she said.
