Patrick Dangerfield hasn't done much wrong this season, and that assessment can now be said to extend to his predictive powers.
A day after he tipped he'd avoid sanctions for his knee to the head of St Kilda's Jarryn Geary, the Geelong star was given the all-clear by the match review panel, who deemed the collision to be an accident.
It means the Cats midfielder remains the clear Brownlow Medal favourite as his side heads to its mid-season bye with 10 wins and four losses.
Dangerfield, 26, became a talking point on Sunday as the third-quarter incident from Saturday night's loss to the Saints was scrutinised.
But the MRP felt it was accidental.
"Geary tackled Dangerfield and took the Geelong player to the ground," the MRP statement said.
"As Dangerfield returned to his feet and sought to return to the play, Geary had hold of his lower leg and contact was made to the St Kilda player. It was the view of the panel the contact was accidental with the Geelong player having his leg held, and no further action was taken."
Dangerfield hovers around the $2.20 mark in corporate bookmaker Brownlow markets. He is well clear of his main challengers, Cats captain Joel Selwood and Sydney's Dan Hannebery.
Only one charge was laid following the abridged round 14. North Melbourne veteran Michael Firrito can accept a $1000 fine for striking Adelaide's Mitch McGovern. The MRP assessed the contact as intentional with low impact to the body.
Richmond hardman Jacob Townsend was cleared for contact made to Brisbane Lions enforcer Mitch Robinson.
