A recent report released by the RACQ has shown the worst postcodes for home theft in Brisbane and surrounds.
Three postcodes in the greater Jimboomba Times coverage area were included in the report.
Ranking in fourth place was, postcode 4133 which includes Chambers Flat, Logan Reserve and Waterford West.
Fifth place went to, postcode 4118, which includes Hillcrest, Browns Plains, Heritage Park and Regents Park.
Taking eighth place, postcode 420, which includes Yarrabliba, Logan Village, Bahrs Scrub, Cedar Creek, Luscombe and Wolffdene.
Postcode 4109, including Macgregor, Robertson, Sunnybank and Sunnybank Hills, topped the list of the suburbs with the worst home theft rate in the region.
Jimboomba Police officer in charge senior sergeant Peter Waugh said it is always a good idea to meet your neighbours and keep an eye out for your street.
“We recommend giving serial numbers to your insurance providers and to look at upgrading your home security,” he said.
“We do expect crime rates to rise with a growing population.
“We do rely on communities to report suspicious activity.”
RACQ executive manager insurance communications Mike Sopinski said the report found break-ins were most often opportunistic with home intrusions, 36.9 per cent, the main method used by thieves to enter homes.
“Unfortunately many householders are making it easy for thieves to enter their home by leaving doors and windows open or unlocked,” he said.
“Just by taking simple measures you can make your house less attractive to thieves.”
Research also found other common methods of theft from homes included doors being forced open (38.5 per cent), windows being forced open (33.3 per cent) and entry through open or unlocked doors (17.2 per cent).
Other postcodes in the top ten included 4113, 4077, 4116, 4506, 4159 and 4020.
