Biggest morning tea

More than 65 people were in attendance for the three course offering served up in Cafe on Cusack.

Special guest Cancer Council Queensland executive manager of events fundraising Scott Knoll was in attendance as well as Logan City Councillors Trevina Schwarz and Laurie Koranski with deputy mayor Cherie Dalley and of course entertainer Joe McGhee who serenaded on the bagpipes.

Mr Knoll said he was delighted to be in Jimboomba to celebrate with Sabine and her wonderful committee.

“This shows what locals can do to fight cancer,” he said.

“We are hoping to see 5000 morning teas this year, with a goal to raise more than $2.5 million.

“This is a tribute to the community and committee.”

During his speech, Mr Knoll thanked all the attendees for their contribution to the goal.

“Each of you are making a big difference,” he said.

Jimboomba branch president Sabine Sydenham was blown away by the support from not only local community members but local businesses who donated prizes and clothing for the fashion parade.

“The support has just been second to none and we just cannot beat that,” she said.

Councillor Trevina Schwarz was the MC for the morning and said it was a fantastic turnout.

“There is just so much support in this community,” she said.

“A sensational venue, plus a very heartfelt warming to show what the community of Jimboomba can achieve.”
