After a few less than impressive performances Thunder’s open men’s side played well to draw with Logan City 20-all.
Facing a 20-6 deficit the boys dug deep led by big efforts by prop Jimmy Simpson, hooker Jarrod Munro and utilities Adam Butler and Khy Marriott.
Halfback Michael almost snatched the win with a 50 metre field goal attempt that just feel short.
Brothers Arthur and Adam Butler (2) scored the home team’s tries while youngest sibling Mitchell kicked four from four.
After a week off the men are at home again on Saturday June 4 against Eden’s landing.
Under 15s
The boys fought hard against a big and strong Southport team.
Southport fielded a full squad of 19 players while an injury struck Jimboomba had no subs and played with 13.
The boys tackled and ran hard they gave every effort but in the end ran out of steam. Final score 26-nil Southport's way.
Under 12 Gold (Division 1)
Thunder’s under 12 Gold team got their fire back on Saturday with a 24-nil win against Southport.
Leading the defence line were Louruce Brown, Huntah Cresswell, Declan Arnold and William Moa.
Try scorers were Timmy Sielaff-Burns (2), Louruce Brown and Lorenzo Wall.
Conversions were made by Timmy Sielaff-Burns, Connor Brooks, Louruce Brown and Kobe Fox. Most Improved Player was awarded to Shae Williams.
Under 10 Gold
Thunder under 10 Gold had no subs and were one man short as they took on a much bigger Southport team who had a full bench.
Solid defence from Aidan McGuire and Drew Pardoe kept Southport at bay as they covered plenty of field, saving countless tries as they both showed great strength, twisting and wrestling the opposition to prevent would be tries.
Man of the match Reece Johnston got the Thunder on the front foot as he proved a handful displaying tremendous leg drive and power taking on the defence and making good solid meters, as well as scoring a try.
Some excellent direction from five-eighth Jacob Evile steered the boys across the paddock with great structure and shape.

Under 9s Green
The under 9s Green team played a fantastic match against Southport on Saturday,
Seth Fagan, Riley Cuka and Ricky Mitchell-Fagan made many metres barging though Southport's defence.
All of the team were quick to move up in defence when Southport was on the attack. Elijah Kemp, Caleb Cresswell and Zanda McAuley all scored tries with Rhys Connery, Riley Husk and Kelsey Coulter each going over the line twice.
Paamu Wall was awarded Player of the Match, each week he is making huge improvements in his defence and running.
