The Park Ridge Panthers football club and Park Ridge Baptist Association will mark its 40th year with a celebration of the club’s history on June 18.
The celebration will take place at the club’s home grounds at Hubner Park in Park Ridge from 8am to 3pm.
Club secretary Owen Anderton said the day aims to bring those involved in the club throughout its history together to remember days of old and look forward to the future of the Panthers.
“This is a unique celebration of a club that has been significant in the lives of many children over the last 40 years with many now coming back with their own children,” he said.
“Some officials have given significant contributions over these times and 14 members have earned life membership status.”
“Many of the VIP’s that will be attending have also a long relationship with the association, many of the old volunteers from the Park Ridge Baptist Church will be traveling back to Hubner Park to meet many that ran the barbecues, games, canteen, equipment shop, first aid, line marking and maintenance.”
Mr Anderton said the club had been a big contributor to soccer in Logan and Queensland.
“Some players have progressed through to senior club and state representative positions,” he said.
The day will also mark an improvement to the maintenance of the club’s home base.
“The opening of the latest fully automated irrigation system will also be conducted on the day,” Mr Anderton said.
“This will ensure the grounds will be all weather grounds and with the new lighting system be a day/night playing centre.”
The 40th anniversary celebration will include exhibition games throughout the day and will feature speeches from Logan City Council deputy mayor Cherie Daley, and federal member for Forde Bert van Manen and state member for Logan Linus Power MP photos and paraphernalia from the club’s history on display.
The club currently offers sporting teams in soccer, netball and cricket.
