Giddy up and get those skates out to help Save a Horse Australia.
Digi Roller Skating Rink in Hillcrest will be hosting a country hoedown night on May 21, with ten per cent of door proceeds going to the charity which has a horse sanctuary located in Beaudesert.
There will be three sessions beginning from 9am with all levels and ages of skaters welcome.
Owner Sharon McKean said this was a way to help out other locals while getting people in for a country night.
“We often have questions about having a country and western night and this really fit in,” she said.
“We want locals to help each other, especially small business.
“We hope to get 300 through the doors at each session.”
During the event there will be whip cracking, a photo booth area and a karaoke machine.
Save a Horse Australia secretary and trade store coordinator Rachel Daniels said the contribution from the hoedown event will go towards feed and vet care.
“Most money that comes in from fundraisers goes towards vet bills,” she said.
“Funds generally go to our ongoing care costs.”
Ms Daniels said it was very generous of Digi Roller Skate to organise an event to help them.
“It doesn’t matter how big or small the donation is because it all adds up,” she said.
“Some of our supporters are are small contributors but it all makes a major difference.”
Ms Daniels said the hoedown event would be a great chance to meet the volunteers as they will also have a merchandise table at the event.
