A disappointing effort by Thunder seniors led to the team going down 28-24 to Brother’s St Brendan’s at Kookaburra Park on April 30.
Jimboomba struggled for consistency throughout the match and were beaten on the bell to lose by four. Strong efforts from Michael Paulo, Matty Poelitz, Jamie Cahill and Jesse McCullough were highlights in a game marred by a lack of discipline and ball handling.
Thunder return home to play Easts Mt Gravatt on Saturday at 4pm.
Another big weekend of home games is ahead with the first game kicking of on Friday night at 7pm.
Under 12 Gold
Another committed effort in defence by the whole team kept the Coomera team scoreless in Saturday’s game. Leading the tackle count and receiving the award for Best Defence was Larouce Brown.
Huntah Cresswell and Ryleigh Lewis also made a major contribution to the defensive line.
Try scorers were Timmy Seilaff-Burns (3), Lorenzo Wall and Connor Brooks.
Huntah Cresswell, Connor Brooks and Lachlan Betts converted tries bringing the score to 26.
Larouce Brown was awarded Player of the Day and Ryleigh Lewis was awarded Most Improved Player.
Under 11 Green
The Jimboomba thunder under 11 green team came up against the Helensvale hornets at the thunder dome on Saturday afternoon.
From the kick off the Thunder went on the attack with solid defensive and attacking plays from the whole team with the final score 32 - 12 for Jimboomba.
Tries were scored by Matthew Barrow, Jacob Baron, Luke Atwell, Locky McKellar and Nicholas Annakin.
Under 7s
Jimboomba Thunder 7s continued to show rapidly developing skills in attack, while being extremely impressive in defence against a tenacious opposition the Helensvale Hornets.
Player of the match Tye Johnston put on a defensive display consisting of one strong tackle after another, while Alex Holmes, this weeks positive or its pointless award winner, played a full game at dummy half and showed great courage in defence towards the back end of the game.
Thunder 7s are having a great start to the 2016 season.
