Hills golf club’s division one and two pennants teams both won their South East Queensland District Golf Association (SEQDGA) Pennants competition grand finals on the weekend.

It was an emphatic victory by the Hills Golf Club’s division one pennant team when they beat Carbrook away 4/1, on Saturday April 23.
This result had the Hills team taking out the final series with an aggregate of 9-1.
With the team back to full strength, Charlie Pilon 7&5 & Mo Limpiolpaibul won their matches 6&5 leading from the front.
Ultra Namkang lost on 18 to finish one down.
The four ball pairing of Tsukasa Maki and Tom Harvey won 4&3 and the foursomes team of Simon Lin and Jerry Huang won 3&2 to make the win very convincing.
This win has the Hills lofting the trophy for a second successive year.
With the talent coming through the ranks they will be a strong competitor in the division one competition for many years to come.
The division two side also travelled to Carbrook for the second leg of their grand final played on Sunday.
Holding a 4-2 lead going into this fixture the Jimboomba side squared the fixture 3-3, giving them a 7-5 aggregate taking out the Hills first SEQDGA division two pennant is some years.
Fourball Paring of Simon Hewitt and Lance Eade performed strongly for a 4&3 win, with the pairing of Phil Bourke and Gavin Skeet going down 5&4.
In the singles Rick Forshey went down 5&4, Tim White lost one down in a tight encounter and Rob Rochford fought out a one-up victory.
Highlight of the day was number one Adrian Paterson having to play beyond 18 holes.
Tied up at the conclusion of regulation play he had to play two sudden death holes to settle the fixture.
Under pressure, the man with ice in his veins hit a flush eight iron into the Par 3 second hole (the 20th of the match) to two feet, setting up a birdie to seal the result for Hills.
The division three team hosted Bay Island on Sunday.
Having suffered a heavy 5-1 loss in the first leg and needing six matches one to take out the flag the Hills side had a tough task ahead of them.
At the Halfway point of the fixture all Hills matches were up by two holes or better.
Sadly they could not hold on, taking out the leg four matches to two, for an aggregate defeat of 7-5.
Fourball pairings of Kevin Gardiner and Ron Watts won 4&2 along with Craig O’Donnell and Bill Menzies winnig their match 4&2.
In the singles Garry Paul won convincingly 7&6, Marty Friswell bounced back from a heavy defeat in the first leg winning 4&3, Grant Bently fought out a tight match loosing on 18 to finish one down and captain John Biddlecombe went down 3&2.
A huge effort for the Hills first ever division three campaign, this outfit will be stronger for this year and will come back with a fire in their bellies to go one better next year.
