Yarrabilba 12-year-old Kishana Marsters has been selected for the South Coast schools netball team for the second year and will compete at the state schoolgirls championships in June.
The Kooralbyn International School student was selected for the team after strong performances for the Beenleigh District Schools representative team at a carnival at Runaway Bay in March and said she is looking forward to the state titles next month.
“I made it in last year for the under 11s team,” she said.
“It was pretty hard last year, so it is really good competition, I want to try and get picked for the Queensland team.
The versatile player who plays for Bluejays in the local competition, can play both in attack or defence, but will be called on primarily for her defensive abilities for the South Coast team.
“I can play defence or shooter, but I don’t mind really, i will be playing in defence for the South Coast team,” she said.
The state schoolgirls netball championships will be held at the State Netball Centre at Mount Gravatt from June 18-22.
Marsters has been playing netball for seven years and the year 7 student believes she will have good on court chemistry with her south coast teammates come June.
“I know most of the girls from playing with them last year so I think we should play well,” she said.
