Logan Village Falcons Allsports have received $100,000 from a government grant to upgrade the lighting on their junior fields.
The money was allocated from the Get Playing Places and Spaces program which provides clubs with funding to develop new, upgrade, or replace sport and recreation infrastructure.
Mr Power said Get Playing Places and Spaces was one of four programs which formed the government’s Get in the Game initiative to support local sport and recreation.
“It’s terrific to see local sport and recreation clubs taking advantage of this program,” he said.
“I know my son and his friends love to play soccer at the Falcons, and the upgraded lighting at the Club will mean greater capacity for more night fixtures for a number of sports.
“This is a great boost for the district and I look forward to seeing the improvements and positive outcomes this funding will create for local sport and recreation clubs, and hope that more clubs will take advantage of the program.”
Logan Village Falcons All Sports President Rod Havers said they are very grateful for the funds.
“This will allow us to develop as a multisport facility,” he said.
“We are glad to partner with our local member and councillors to grow our club and increase community participation.
“We aim for this to be a season 2016 project, to upgrade the lights on the junior fields.
“The long term vision is eventually upgrading this to allow a second senior field.”
