THE Jimboomba community kicked off the festive season with its annual carols event on Saturday night.
More than 2000 people gathered on the Jimboomba State School oval for the JC Family Church’s 14th annual Christmas Carols.
Despite a venue change from Jimboomba Park, church pastor and carols organiser Phil Sharp said the event was among the best the church had held.
He said a even a shower of rain about 7pm did not dampen the Christmas spirits of those in attendance, with most families staying until the fireworks display at 8.30pm.
“It was pretty impressive (attendance)… even though we had a few things against us this year,” he said.
“It just shows the really good community we have in Jimboomba, I am encouraged at how many people support this event.”
Santa also paid the community a special visit on the night, arriving on a motorbike. Mr Sharp said performances by Jimboomba State School and Hills College students were also highlights.
