LOGAN residents should remain wary of anyone offering to lay bitumen or perform other home maintenance for upfront cash payments.
The Office of Fair Trading on Thursday reported a group of “bitumen bandits” was currently operating in the Logan area.
“Bitumen bandits perform substandard work using watered-down materials and often leave without completing the job,” a spokesman said.
“It is illegal for door-to-door traders to take any upfront payments or deposits for services valued at more than $100.”
To report a suspected scam in the area phone the Office of Fair Trading on 13 74 68.
