A JIMBOOMBA cricketer has been mixing it with the state’s best recently after he was selected in the Queensland Country Talent Squad.
Josh Creevey, 14, was picked after consistently tearing through top orders with the ball and showing considerable talent with the bat.
Josh, who lives at Jimboomba and plays for Beaudesert Cricket Club, recently went on a three-day camp with the team and will travel to Toowoomba for a second camp in January.
He said spending time with Queensland’s top talent had already made him a better player.
“It’s a really good experience, really enjoyable. I’m basically meeting new people and learning new skills,” he said.
Josh, who models his game off Mitchell Starc, hopes to one day play for Australia.
The youngster won a host of of awards last season and is the fastest bowler in the Queensland team, regularly reaching speeds of 115km an hour.
He was also chosen as district player of the year and finished as the top wicket-taker in the Beaudesert region.
After taking up the game about five years ago, Josh said it is now his passion and something he wants to one day make his career.
“I love it. I love taking wickets and bowling fast and getting out there with the bat. When I get older its definitely what I want to do. Playing for Australia is my dream,” he said.
