THE hype of the Summer 7s final week was felt at the Beaudesert Warriors grounds over the weekend, with high-intensity matches played by all teams.
TMR Green met the high flying Kingfishers in the under 10s cup final with the end score being 15-10 in favour of the Kingfishers.
Both teams fought gallantly to the end but it was the under 10s most valuable player of the tournament, Darcy Riddle, who scored the match winning try for the Kingfishers.
In the play-off for third and fourth it was TMR Blue triumphing over the Kingfishers in another tough match.
The under 12s was a mighty clash between Emmaus 1 and TMR Green. These two teams were the front runners for the whole tournament.and played a hard physical game when they met in the cup final.
In the end it was Emmaus who ran out eventual winners 20-10 thanks largely to their sustained attack.
The Stormers and TMR Blue met in the playoff for third and this was another game that went down to the wire.
In the end it was a 15-15 draw with TMR being awarded the game based on for and against.
Jayden Barnes from Emmaus was a well deserved winner of the under 12s most valuable player.
With a six team competition in the under 14s it was left to the Raging Rhinos to play the Kingfishers in the cup final. The Rhinos started well and went into the halftime break with a narrow one try lead.
The Kingfishers came out after the break determined to improve on their performance and put on three quick tries to take the lead away from the Rhinos.
The final score of 25-15 to the Kingfishers showed why the two teams were the top performers of the tournament.
In the under 14s plate final the Hogs beat Emmaus 1 to take the third place prize. Alex Gilliland from the Raging Rhinos was named most valuable player in the under 14s age group.
The under 16s final was a physical encounter played between two competitive teams in Emmaus 1 and the Kingfishers.
It was a see-sawing battle with each team taking the lead at times throughout the game.
With the clock ticking down it was left to Josh Irwin to seize the moment and latch onto a loose ball to put Emmaus in the lead right on the final whistle.
Brendan Russell from Emmaus was named most valuable player in the under 16s just ahead of Jake Stephan and Daniel Bull.
