For more than a decade, the Movember Foundation has been raising awareness about men’s health across a number of areas including prostate cancer, mental health and physical inactivity.
This year, a number of local mo bros from Beaudesert, Jimboomba and the Redlands are taking part in the event and would love your support.
Our local Movember mates
Joshua Paterson: I'm taking part in Movember this year to raise money for men's mental health. This is a cause close to my heart as I have lost a friend to suicide in the past and have been affected by mental health issues in the past myself. I have also had many friends and family who have struggled with mental health issues. In this day an age where people can share a meme or post on social media about a cause I believe it's also important to be the change you want to see in society and actually do something tangible to bring about change such as fundraising, as opposed to simply spreading the word about a cause on social media. Donate here.
Josh Cocks: I am married to Jade and we have three children (Melanie, Bethany and Nathaniel). We have lived in Beaudesert for 11 years and for that time I have been the minister at Beaudesert Baptist Church. Prior to this I obtained a degree in agricultural science and worked as QA Supervisor in a poultry processing plant. I also work part time on a dairy farm, chicken farm and for a sandblaster. I have a small collection of old tractors and enjoy the outdoors. I’m taking part to raise awareness about men’s health, to personally exercise a bit more and to help raise funds for this good cause. Donate here.
Shane Coburn: My name is Shane Coburn and I work in a family business. I am Beaudesert born and bred. Most people know me through my other passion in life outside of my family, rugby league. I am president of the Beaudesert Kingfishers and have many young boys and men that I wish to give a positive example to. This, and my desire to assist with men's health are the main reasons for taking part in Movember. I am sure that I can provide a little amusement at what I am certain will be a very bad look. I hope that people can support this worthy cause for men's health as I am sure that every one has had this touch their life at some stage. Donate here.
Craig Ogilvie: I’m the Councillor for Cleveland and sport and health has been important to me all my life. I think I’m really undergunned for this challenge. But if I raise some money, and outmo my brother, I’ll be happy. Donate here.
Josh Tuivuya: Donate here.
Matt Wright: My name is Matt Wright, small business owner, The Story Tree book and coffee shop in Boonah. I am also the current Boonah and District Chamber of Commerce president. Always up for a good cause. Donate here.
Coles Jimboomba team: This is the first year Coles Jimboomba has participated. Movember is a great way to raise awareness for men's health. A way for guys to show that it's ok to seek assistance and advice regarding their health. Donate here.
