FRUSTRATION is growing at Flagstone as residents continue to demand answers on when they will get access to public transport.
No public bus service caters to the estate, which is about 10 kilometres from the Jimboomba CBD.
Flagstone Community Association (FCA) president Bob Wiley said he was continually fielding calls from frustrated residents suffering from a lack of public transport.
He said several attended a recent FCA meeting looking for information on getting a service in the area.
“The conversation came up on the (Flagstone Community) Facebook page about the bus service and our previous state member said he would have had one up in 12 months,” Mr Wiley said.
“He said it in a public forum and so of course people are thinking, ‘why can’t we get one now’.”
Mr Wiley has taken the community’s concerns to Logan MP Linus Power.
“(Linus said) he was prepared to meet with them and discuss the situation,” Mr Wiley said.
“I don’t want to let it drag on. This conversation keeps happening but when we get to the state government, that’s where it stops.
”I just wish everything would come together so we can get buses on the roads and bums in seats.”
Mr Power has confirmed he was open to meeting with estate residents to discuss calls for a bus service.
He stopped short of saying the state government could provide a solution.
“The Greater Flagstone PDA development scheme has a requirement that the developers provide an interim bus strategy for a period of five years prior to the completion of 200 residential lots,” he said.
“I am in talks with them about how they will implement that and I will keep the pressure on.”
Mr Power said he had not yet approached Transport Minister Jackie Trad about the issue but would do so this week.
“I am speaking to Ms Trad this week about exactly that,” he said.
“She is very supportive… she has an understanding of the growth and the challenges that are going to be there.
“I am also talking individually to people who have contacted me about the issue, this is something that we need to get right.
“I will keep the pressure right on the developers to deliver what they are contracted to deliver.”
