A GREENBANK family is appealing to the public to help find their puppy, Ramsie, who went missing during a devastating house fire on August 17.
The house was destroyed by the blaze and the family of four left with nothing except the clothes on their backs.
Homeowner Jenny Woods said even though she and her husband Merv were left with nothing, it was important for them to find their puppy Ramsie that went missing during the fire.
With tears in her eyes, Mrs Woods said it would mean the world to them if Ramsie was found.
“I would give everything I had left to get her back,” she said.
Ramsie is a sandy brown colored dachshund cross boarder collie with black hair on her tail and on the tips of her ears, with three white paws and stumpy legs.
Ramsie was spotted in the back yard after the fire had engulfed the house, but has not been seen since.
“A neighbour spotted Ramsie running out the back after the fire had ripped through our house, so that is why we think that she may be alive roaming other peoples properties or someone has picked her up thinking she was abandoned,” Mrs Woods said.
“If someone picked her up they may have thought she was an abused puppy because she could have been burnt a little.”
Ramsie is from a litter of five puppies born the day before the Woods’ beloved family dog Holly died following pregnancy complications.
“Ramsie is the only puppy that looks like her mum and that is why she is so special to us,” Mrs Woods said.
Mrs Woods said when driving around the neighborhood she couldn’t help but look for the lost puppy.
“Someone could have picked her up off the road during the fire and she would have been scared and possibly hurt,” Mrs Woods said.
Daughter Sarah Woods told Times they still do not know what caused the fire that destroyed her parents’ home.
“By the time (fire crews) got there it was pretty alight and they can’t tell us what happened because there is no walls or switches left,” she said.
“The firies think it could have been caused by an electrical outlet outside where we keep a fridge that held drinks and dog food, but they can only say maybe that is where it happened.”
