TO commemorate past and current service members, Logan Village RSL is building a new memorial wall.
While they are still waiting for approval from Logan City Council, the sub-branch have started work on the foundations and once built, will be removable if needed.
Logan Village RSL president Garry Alterator said having a memorial was was an important step for the RSL sub-branch.
“It will be built to remember, fittingly, those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and those members of our services club that have passed away,” he said.
He said the wall was funded by the sub-branch, but they would be seeking contributions towards it.
Logan Village RSL treasurer Sidney Goodwin said they would be holding a competition once it is built for a community member to paint a mural on the wall.
“Anyone who wants to put their hand up and put their ideas forward with their interpretations of the army, we are open to it,” he said.
Logan Village RSL assistant treasurer Bruce Colclough said a new memorial wall would promote the RSL and bring in new members.
He said the RSL was looking for new members who would be willing to participate in the monthly working bee and other club activities.
Cam Carter from SEQ Property Solutions is building the memorial wall for the sub-branch.
