PARK Ridge State School celebrated indigenous culture with a NAIDOC week assembly on Tuesday.
Indigenous student Tiarnah Isua gave the opening address and an acknowledgment of country, after the school choir performed the national anthem in both the English and Yugambeh languages.
The choir also performed 'Abeeyo', an Aborignal welcome song, for the school's invited guests.
Among the guests were performers from both the Wakka-Wakka Tribe and the south-east Queensland Torres Strait Islander Dancers.
Park Ridge State School head of learning and teaching Sherron Butterworth said the singing of the national anthems was a highlight.
"It was the first time we have sung it in the traditional Yugambeh language and it was just magical," she said.
She said the school was thrilled by the performances.
"It was the first time we've had both of those groups and they were just great," she said.
Ms Butterworth said the school's indigenous students played a major role in the assembly's success, helping to run the show.
She said the students found the assembly memorable.
"You can always tell how good an assembly is by looking out at the students and seeing what they're doing and they were just mesmerised," she said.
"The kids were all coming up to me saying it was amazing and telling me their favourite parts of the morning."
NAIDOC week was officially celebrated at the beginning of July.
