LOGAN Mayor Pam Parker has denounced the forming of an M1 taskforce, saying "more action and less talk" is needed to fix the motorway.
The Fix the M1 taskforce was launched on Wednesday to improve the M1 bottleneck between the Logan and Gateway Motorways.
It will campaign to secure $20 million in funding for design works on an M1 upgrade but Cr Parker said it was not enough.
"I knew about (the taskforce) a few weeks ago and I declined to be a member of it because I believe it's not constituted in a way that will achieve anything," she said.
"I think if you are going to have a working group... (it) needs the compliance of every state and federal member along the M1 from the Gateway merge to the New South Wales border.
"It needs to have somebody from Main Roads to inform the politicians of what's required as well as a staff member from the office of Infrastructure Australia."
Cr Parker said Logan's state and federal members needed to exercise their influence and secure urgent upgrade works.
"What you need is a federal member and a state member with influence," she said.
"It's like a councillor saying 'I need to upgrade Teviot Road, I'm going to form a working group so we can upgrade Teviot Road' rather than going to council and saying 'I need the funding for the upgrade of Teviot Road'.
"It's a little bit bewildering... (and) I'm not sure what the working group will achieve.
"This road is long overdue and we are still haggling over the $20 milion business plan that's needed and that's been needed for five years."
