RESIDENTS of Mundoolun Road in Jimboomba got a loud wake up call on Tuesday morning after a semi trailer crashed and caught fire in the street.
Simon Cash was first on the scene when the 24-year-old driver crashed the truck about 5.20am and said he felt lucky to not end up in the path of the rollover.
"It was a bit scary, if I'd left a minute earlier I reckon he would of hit me or at least just missed me," he said.
"It just so happened that I just went back inside to look for my truck keys then came out and saw it all happen.
"I walked up to him first a bit tentative just seeing the mess of a truck and I yelled out 'is anyone there' and he yelled back 'get me out'.
"He was a very lucky boy."
Fellow Mundoolun Road resident Corey Baker heard the crash before rushing out to the scene and was one of many who helped get the driver out of the wreck safely.
"There was a few others trying to get the driver out I was just trying to get the battery disconnected, that's when the fire broke out and my wife and I were throwing gravel onto it to try and get it out and that's when I said to them they had to get him out," he said.
"It was pretty scary when the fire broke out but luckily one of the neighbours went and got a fire extinguisher and put the fire out."
The driver, who was trapped for a short time, was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital by Ambulance but is not believed to have been seriously injured.
Jimboomba Police Sergeant Rob Duncan said the cause of the crash was unknown.
"For reasons unknown the vehicle has left the road on the outside of the bend and has tipped onto its side and slid into a nearby fence," he said.
