LOGAN Mayor Pam Parker has slammed the state government for a lack of expenditure on key road projects in Logan, including upgrades to the Pacific Motorway.
Cr Parker was bitterly disappointed no funding was announced for the M1, despite council's push to have it upgraded.
"I've been putting pressure on federal members and state members in relation to this for years," she said.
"This road should have been built in 2001, and we are still waiting for it.
"The M1 highway is not just about Logan, it's about the region, 145,000 vehicles use that road everyday and by 2020 it's going to be 190,000."
Cr Parker was also disappointed to see no funding provided to ease congestion on Wembley Road at Logan Central.
She said council would continue to put pressure on state and federal politicians.
"We've put $100,000 in our advocacy budget and we're going to get very, very serious and take it up to both levels of government for the M1 highway funding and Wembley Road and other projects," she said.
"We're going to put a whole list together and we're going to make them election issues in the next state and federal elections, we can't be taken for granted."
Logan MP Linus Power defended the government's lack of expenditure on the M1, saying it was difficult to coordinate what was a state and federal issue.
"There is still lots for Logan MPs to keep fighting for... some of them take state and federal coordination, so they're difficult to announce as part of the budget," he said.
"But behind the scenes the Logan MPs are fighting really hard for those things and advocating to the ministers."
