THE Martin family of Boronia Heights will host a fundraising dinner on June 5, in a bid to garner further support for their son, Jessie, who is living with cerebral palsy.
The event will be held at the Park Ridge Tavern at 5.30pm, with tickets $25 per person.
Glen and Patricia Martin are hoping community support will help them achieve their goal of having a new bathroom installed at their home.
Currently, their bathroom does not cater to Jessie's needs, which have increased in recent years.
The couple said if they were not able to install the bathroom, they could be faced with putting Jessie into a care facility.
Mr Martin thanked the community for all the support they had been given so far.
"We've had people just donating money (at our fundraisers) and they've travelled quite a way to get there, that's the good part about the community," he said.
"Everyone has been generous."
Ms Martin said the family had raised about $5,200 so far. She said along with a $10,000 grant received from St Michael's home assist, they were still a fair way off their target of $18,500.
"We raised $714 at our garage sale and $600 at the sausage sizzle," she said.
"We are very grateful but we do have a time limit, with the grant money having to be spent by August.
"We are hoping for a big turn out on Friday night."
Fifteen prizes will be raffled on the night and two auctions will be held.
Tickets to Friday night's event must be booked in advance.
