CUPS of tea and friendly conversation were the order of the day as the Jimboomba branch of the Cancer Council held its annual Australia Biggest Morning Tea event on Thursday.
The morning tea was held at Jimboomba's Cafe on Cusack and received a great response from the community, with branch chairperson Angela Fischer adding she was thrilled with the support.
"I'm very happy with the turnout, we've got about 45 people here," she said.
Half of the price of attendance went directly to the Cancer Council with the group also running a cent auction styled raffle to add to the total. Ms Fischer said she was hopeful of contributing $500 towards the cause.
"The main aim was just to get some people here and to raise awareness," she said.
"Most of us in the Jimboomba branch have lost someone to cancer or know someone who is going through cancer, so for the committee we are very passionate about getting out in the community and supporting the Cancer Council.
"The community here have always been great in supporting us."
