PERSISTENT rain failed to dampen the enthusiasm of local school touch footballers on Monday.
Teams from Jimboomba State School, Flagstone State School, Emmaus College, St Mary's Beaudesert and Beaudesert State School had players vying for selection in the 12 years Beaudesert school sports touch team at Beaudesert's Willis Park.
Despite Monday's rain, the schools took part in a round robin tournament, followed by a possibles probables game which gave coaches the chance to cast their eye for talent and finalise a combined side to take on a Beenleigh side on Monday in Beenleigh.
The players selected were Emmaus College's Connor Addley, Sean Howlett and Connor Brooks from Jimboomba State School, Kobe Fox, Caleb Rowe, Jarren White and Jack Leighton from Flagstone State School, Jay Newland, Travis Love and Takashi Mears from Beaudesert State School, Beaudesert High School's Jake Russell and Harry O'Reilly from St Mary's College.
A combined Beaudesert and Beenleigh side will be picked to represent the Pacific Rim at the South Coast schools trials later this year.
