MAIN Roads will urgently investigate the Camp Cable Road and Mt Lindesay Highway intersection after the death of a 73-year-old Logan Village man there earlier this month.
The three-car crash on April 1 revived a community campaign for safety upgrades to the intersection, with some residents demanding traffic lights and speed limit reduction at the corner.
Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said he was aware of community concerns.
"I was saddened to hear about the tragic accident at the Camp Cable Road intersection... (and) I can appreciate it would be most distressing for Jimboomba's close-knit community," he said.
"I've spoken with the Member for Logan Linus Power about the safety concerns raised... (and) I've asked the Director General of Main Roads to urgently investigate any safety issues at this intersection and to make improvements.
"Road safety is everyone's responsibility. The government is also keen to hear the views of the broader community and take that feedback on board."
Mr Power said the government would also undertake a broader safety review of the Mt Lindesay Highway in coming months.
"Main Roads is going to conduct a route safety review along the Mt Lindesay Highway to identify and undertake safety improvements," he said.
"I will be asking them to look urgently at the need for traffic lights (at Camp Cable Road) and look at lowering the speed limit and with that safety review if action needs to be taken I will be pushing for it again.
"You want to always listen to the experts... I've got a meeting with Mains Roads (this week) where I will be talking through this and quite a few other issues."
A Main Roads spokeswoman said plans for the safety review were in place before this month's fatal accident.
"The safety review will be carried out along the Mt Lindesay Highway from Trinity Way, Logan, to the Queensland and New South Wales border," she said.
"We are in the process of engaging an engineering consultant to undertake this review.
"It is expected the review will be under way before the end of this financial year."
The government has allocated $5 million to undertake safety works on the highest priority sections of the Mt Lindesay Highway in the 2015-16 financial year.
