TWO Jimboomba siblings' training and dedication to athletics has seen them go all the way to the National Junior Athletics Championships in Sydney.
Chloe Bradley 14 and Shane Bradley 13 have recently returned from the championships after qualifying with bronze medal performances in their pet events, the 2km steeple chase and the 1500m at the Queensland State Championships in late February.
Shane finished the under 14s 1500m in 14th place at nationals but his mother Shelly said he was hampered by a sudden unexpected storm.
"They called them out on to the track and they started getting ready to race and it literally pelted down rain right through the race and stopped when the race finished, it was just for that race," she said.
Shane said he would be training hard to qualify for nationals again to improve on his performance and he was confident of a better showing should he qualify in 2016.
"I was pretty happy to qualify and I was a bit nervous before the race started and the rain didn't help either, but I know that I don't have to be nervous next time because it's just a regular race like any race," he said.
Big sister Chloe qualified for nationals in October with her bronze medal performance at the state titles only adding to her credentials ahead of the under 16s 2km steeple chase in Sydney, but in a stroke of bad luck she sustained a knee injury during the race and was unable to finish.
Ms Bradley said her and husband John were still immensely proud of their daughters efforts.
"Chloe qualified for nationals at the Spring Carnival in October where she blitzed her personal best time and she also made her Queensland talent squad time then also," she said.
"She was brave, she wanted to try and finish the race but she still had two laps to go and they told her she had to stop," John said.
Chloe said once her injury is healed she is keen to return to tri-weekly training with her brother at the Queensland State Athletic Centre under coach Joanna Spiro but for now she was content with her nationals qualification despite her injury.
"It was disappointing to get injured but I was still very happy to qualify for nationals," she said.
