BUSINESS owners on Greenbank Road say trade has dropped about 50 per cent since the road's closure for reconstruction works on March 2.
Staff at Highway Tanks, the Winter Winds Nursery and Oasis Landscaping and Building Supplies have noticed a significant drop in customers since the road was closed.
The road works, which have forced the closure of Greenbank Road between Beryl Parade and the Mt Lindesay Highway, will include improvements to the road and shoulder width and drainage.
Council expects the works will be completed by mid-April.
Highway Tanks owner Ian Bryer said the downturn was expected.
"Across the three businesses you are looking at about a 50 per cent downturn in sales... its about the most we were hoping for, we always knew we were going to get a detrimental effect from it," he said.
"But we do have extra costs ourselves, a few extra fuel costs with having to travel further (around the road works)... (and) we've outlaid more money advertising as well.
"It's mainly the nursery that has suffered, we (the other businesses) still get calls for deliveries, but you can't order a plant to be delivered."
Mr Bryer said he was thankful council was doing what it could do lessen the blow.
"I think the signage (on the highway) is the best they've done for us, I think that's helped drastically, if they weren't there I dread to think what our sales would be down to," he said.
Division Four Councillor Don Petersen said council was working with the affected businesses as much as possible.
"Council has five variable message signs... dedicated to informing road users how to access affected businesses," he said.
"Council has also placed public notices for four consecutive weeks with the Jimboomba Times... (and) provided hundreds of flyers to each business prior to the works for distribution to their customers."
