POLICE are on the hunt for two men who stole a four-wheel-drive twice from a Boronia Heights home this week.
It is alleged the 4WD, a silver 2002 Mitsubishi Challenger, was first stolen from Short Street between 10.30am on Saturday, January 24 and 4.25pm on Monday, January 26.
Personal items were also stolen at the time and the theft was reported to police.
But in a strange twist, police say two men returned to the home in the stolen 4WD about 11 am on Wednesday.
Police allege the men parked the 4WD in the driveway and approached the house, but were then chased back to the front yard by the 67-year-old home owner.
Police allege the men then attacked the 67-year-old, before fleeing again in the 4WD.
The 67-year-old was taken to the Mater Hospital with a non-life threatening head injury.
The 4WD's registration number is 394REA.
Anyone with information on the men or the 4WD is asked to phone Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
