TEACHERS at Flagstone State Community College are seeing double this week as 11 sibling pairs - including four sets of twins - start at the high school.
The siblings are among 240 students starting high school at the college this year.
Almost 140 of those have become the school's first year 7 cohort, with the year level now officially part of high school in Queensland.
The move has led to many Queensland siblings starting their high school journey together in 2015, with some entering years 7 and 8 side by side.
Flagstone State Community College deputy principal Kelsey Oakes - who is a twin herself - said it was special to have so many students start high school with a sibling.
"It is a bit of a novelty," she said.
"They will appreciate having a familiar face around."
Identical twins Joshua and Matthew Clarke started year 7 at Flagstone on Tuesday.
They said while they were nervous at first, they were looking forward to seeing what high school had in store.
"I was in a year 6/7 class (at Flagstone State School) last year, so I feel ready for year 7," Matthew said.
"I'm looking forward to trying new subjects."
Joshua said he and Matthew were "a bit different".
"We were only in the same class in Prep and in year 5," he said.
"I like cooking, Matthew likes technology."
Ms Oakes said staff at the school were excited to have the year 7 students on board.
"We have been preparing for the onset of year 7 since 2012," she said.
"We are looking forward to building a strong junior secondary culture among the 7s, 8s and 9s."
