LOGAN Village Falcons player Jacinta Duncan is on a fast track to the top of her sport after being selected to play for an elite youth team this year.
The 15-year-old was one of the youngest players selected for the Souths United Youth Womens National Premier League (NPL) team after demonstrating her ability at three trials late last year.
"I trained really hard to get in, all the girls were really well-skilled," she said.
"It means a lot to me, it can get me places."
Jacinta began training with the team last week and said the older girls, aged 16 to 20, had been very welcoming.
The team is coached by former international player Andrea Martin and Jacinta said she expects to learn and improve a lot over the season.
"It's going to be very competitive, I look forward to being able to play at this high level," she said.
Jacinta is a qualified level four referee and plans to continue training with her local club whenever possible.
"I'll be trying to help out my old under 16s team from Logan Village," she said.
The NPL is Football Federation Australia's second-tier Premier League and develops elite players to feed the W-League and Australia's international women's team, The Matildas.
Jacinta said it would be a dream come true to play for the Matildas one day.
