KEEN cricketer Ciaran Worth is aiming to take as many wickets as he can when he competes in the Ian Healy Cup in Brisbane.
The Mundoolun nine-year-old was recently selected for the under 12s south-east Queensland cricket development team over boys three years his senior.
Ciaran, who plays for the Beaudesert and District Cricket Association, said he could not wait to develop his skills with the south-east Queensland team.
"For my bowling, I want to try to make it swing - I used to be a spin bowler, but now I'm working on being more of a swing bowler," he said.
"My second goal is I want to try and brush my ear, because my arm is mostly off to the side."
Ciaran said he looked to some of the big names in Australian and Sri Lankan cricket for inspiration.
"(Australian spin bowler) Nathan Lyon is probably my biggest hero in cricket, and I still like him even though he's a spin bowler," he said.
"Sometimes I bowl like (Sri Lankan test bowler) Lasith Malinga."
Ciaran will play in the Ian Healy Cup from January 5 to 9.
