HISTORY was made at Jimboomba State School on Monday night as the school farewelled its last year 7 cohort.
The cheers were loud and the applause deafening as each of the 61 graduating students crossed the stage, officially ending their primary school journey.
The students, who were also Queensland's first prep students back in 2007, made up the last year 7 class to pass through Jimboomba State School.
Year 7 will be completed at high schools in Queensland from next year.
School principal Jay Mills congratulated the students on all they had achieved.
"You were our first preps and are our last year 7s, well done to you all," she said.
"Remember, always do your best and strive for excellence in whatever you do.
"We wish you all the best, the future is yours."
Also farewelled on Monday night was the school's first cohort of graduating year 6 students.
The majority of the 119-strong year 6 class will begin their high school journey at Beaudesert State High School in 2015.
Ms Mills told the year 6 students to embrace the challenges high school would bring.
"As the first year 7s to enter high school you might find next year very strange," she said.
"Believe in yourselves and look back on your primary school years with a sense of satisfaction and achievement.
"You are the driver of your future, only you can stop you becoming the best you can be."
Year 7 captains Hollie Caminiti and Zackeri Joyce and year 6 captains Ryan Dettrick and Alexandra Stillie also spoke on the evening.
The students thanked school staff for supporting them in their primary school years and for preparing them for the future.
Year 7 student Jasmine Barry is dux of Jimboomba State School for 2014.
Dux of year 6 is Tiana Smith.
