THE roar of more than 4000 screaming supercross fans echoed from Jimboomba on Saturday night as champion Australian supercross rider Matt Moss crossed the finish line at the Queensland Supercross Championships.
Moss won the pro class event in thrilling style on the night, edging out top riders Lawson Bopping and his brother Jake to claim the trophy.
Moss completed 15 laps of the track in 9 minutes, 5.199 seconds with a best lap time of 35.102 seconds.
Event organiser Scott Bannan said Moss's win was a spectacular finish to the Queensland Supercross Championships, which came to Jimboomba for the first time this year.
"It was just unreal, the Moss boys said it was the best race they have ever run in Australia," Mr Bannan said.
"It was a great atmosphere, we had a full fireworks show and flame throwers going off while the riders were on the track. It was brilliant."
Mr Bannan said rain early on Saturday threatened to stall the show but in the end, worked in their favour.
"The track condition was great," he said.
"We couldn't believe how lucky we were."
Mr Bannan said he was thrilled with the community's support of the event.
"I heard an 11-year-old in the crowd say it was the best night of his life, that just made it for me," he said.
More than 90 people also turned out to help Hills College run its food and drinks stall on the night, which raised money for the school P and F.
