A WATERFORD homeless shelter is hosting a free outdoor movie night this weekend to thank its volunteers and the community.
Sheltered by Grace director Jason Loakes said it had been a tough year for the shelter.
He said demand for beds continued to increase and the shelter's power bills and rates had gone up.
"Every year it gets worse, this year it's just been crazy, I've never seen a December period like this before," he said.
As well as screening a family-friendly Christmas movie, there will be a blow-up ninja obstacle course, carols and a visit from Santa.
"We wanted to thank our volunteers and the community for their support and offer some affordable family fun," he said.
Mr Loakes advised families to bring a blanket or deck chairs to make themselves comfortable.
The shelter will also hold a sausage sizzle to raise money.
The night will kick off at 5pm on Saturday, Logan Wesleyan Methodist Church, 875-877 Kingston Road, Waterford.
