MORE than $3000 was raised at the Furkids Animal Rescue's Christmas event on Saturday despite the sweltering heat.
Many people turned out to the event at Hills College, some with their dogs, to enjoy the canine focused event, which also included market stalls, rides and live music.
Organiser Paquita Walburn said two of the rescue group's dogs were adopted on the day and another 10 people were interested in adopting a dog.
"Although the heat kept numbers down to have two dogs adopted and more people applying to become foster carers was great," she said.
"It made the event worthwhile as it really was all about the dogs."
Ms Walburn said the money raised would go towards paying off the vet bills Furkids Animal Rescue had from caring for abandoned and surrendered puppies and dogs.
