WATER bombing helicopters were called in to battle a large grass fire near Tamborine on Saturday.
It took fire crews about six hours to bring the flames under control, which were burning with containment lines by 7.30pm on Saturday.
The fire started about 1pm on Saturday in bushland near Plunkett Road.
The fire spanned almost 20 acres when rural crews from Chambers Flat, Jimboomba, Tamborine, Logan Village, Mount Tamborine and Cedar Creek arrived at the scene.
Firefighters from the parks and wildlife service were also on hand.
Firefighters conducted a seven kilometre backburn at the scene.
The fire caused a large amount of smoke in the area, with residents advised to shut doors and windows and drive to conditions. No property was under threat.
