AFTER 13 years serving the Jimboomba community Senior Sergeant Bill Sheehan has hung up his hat.
A cop for the past 35 years Senior Sergeant Sheehan has made the tough decision to retire from the Queensland Police Service next month.
He was appointed as officer in charge of Jimboomba police division on December 24, 2001, and said it would be sad to say goodbye.
"The greatest satisfaction and the passion and the drive for me to this very day is about working with the community," Senior Sergeant Sheehan said.
"I consider myself as a community based police officer and my focus is about reducing crime so that people can feel safe."
Senior Sergeant Sheehan said he was "extremely grateful" for the wonderful people he had meet.
"There are so many good people and on a daily basis I tell my staff that the Jimboomba community is one of respect for police and vice versa," he said.
"I can't please everybody and there are certain times when people may not agree with the outcome of a decision but I try to achieve balance."
The advice Senior Sergeant Sheehan said he would give to his successor would be simple.
"Listen to what the needs of the community are and address those concerns," he said.
