RURAL fire brigades want residents to think about truck access to their properties during fire season.
Brigades say timing is key when fighting fires and the ability to access homes quickly can help save lives and properties.
The message follows some residents in Jimboomba and Greenbank receiving letters recently warning their homes are at high or very high risk of bushfire.
As reported in the Jimboomba Times in October, the suburbs are in the top three in Logan most at risk of facing a bushfire emergency over coming months.
Greenbank Rural Fire Brigade first officer Fabian Stangherlin said fire truck access was "a big issue".
"The more time we waste trying to access a property means less time defending homes," he said.
"It is hard to get down driveways that are overgrown, or past overhanging trees or big locked gates.
"We know people are worried about security, but we hope they understand in the event of a fire we need to be able to cut through as quickly as possible."
Mr Stangherlin said another way residents could help brigades was to display a small aluminium W on their fence if they had a large water source.
"People can get the Ws from any rural brigade, just to let us know there is water at their home we can use," Mr Stangherlin said.
"This includes swimming pools or water tanks or dams and we ask they display the W on their front fence and at the water source itself."
