THE journey is finally over for three Jimboomba mates who have spent two weeks driving across Peru.
Andrew Nolan, Julian Buttigieg and Glen Gorton have, somewhat successfully, completed the Adventurist's two-week Mototaxi Junket challenge.
The trio and their three wheeled "sofa bike" traversed thousands of kilometres through the Andes in a bid to raise funds for Rotary's youth leadership program RYLA this month.
They have raised thousands of dollars and helped boost awareness of the program, which helps youth realise their leadership potential.
Mr Nolan updated the Facebook page on the weekend.
“We knew the downhill section was coming, and we were thoroughly looking forward to it,” he wrote of their final leg.
“When it did come it was all systems go, clutch in and free rolling, the last 10km was downhill free rolling bliss, such a great way to finish the run.
“When we reached the bottom to cross the bridge Glen stalled it right in the middle of the bridge, quite fitting really.
“After quite a bit of convincing he got the taxi back up and running and we putted to the finish line, huzzah.
“The next day consisted of struggling to eat breakfast, not being able to shower, use the bathroom or any electricity... more lounging around then the finish line party.
“It was great to hear how everyone else got on during the two weeks and some of the crazy stories they had. Nothing but pure, exquisite chaos.”
