SHE may have only started playing futsal this year but Jimboomba's Rachel Kirchner has already been chosen to represent her country.
The 13-year-old talented and dedicated athlete was selected for the honour after she was spotted by international talent scouts while playing for Queensland in Bendigo earlier this month.
It is her first year playing futsal, having previously played soccer.
Although her Queensland team was defeated in its grand final, Rachel's performance was so impressive she was selected to join the elite Australian team.
She will head over to the United Kingdom and Scotland in April next year for 20 days, to represent the under 14s girls team.
Rachel trains every week, bumping up her sessions when there is a competition.
She is "rarely seen without a ball," according to her family.
Her mother Gayle Kirchner said she could not be more proud of her budding sports star.
"She is very dedicated, very consistent with her training," she said.
"Even in Bendigo she took a ball to the face and continued on playing in the second half.
"She loves playing and she has great potential to do very well."
Rachel said she was "pretty proud" of herself and was surprised to hear she had been selected.
To fulfil Rachel's dream of going overseas, the Kirchner family are seeking help to get her there.
