You know that little rectangle sticker on your car windscreen? Rip it off.
VEHICLES under 4.5 tonnes will no longer need to display a registration sticker from Wednesday (October 1), after changes made by the government to bring Queensland in line with the rest of the nation.
The move will save the government $3.5 million a year in postage and printing costs. But Assistant Public Transport Minister Steve Minnikin, stepping in for Transport Minister Scott Emerson who is away, said it was not an excuse to stop paying vehicle registration.
"Motorists will still receive their registration notice in the mail, along with payment option information and a fee breakdown," he said.
"Police and Transport and Main Roads will continue to crack down on unregistered vehicles through current enforcement and the expansion of Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras."
For those who relied on the sticker to alert them to when their rego was due, an app has been created.
