PARK Ridge State School students and teachers alike took part in the school's annual walk-a-thon fundraiser on Thursday.
Dressed in superheroes outfits and favourite sports teams tops, the prep to year 7 students walked 200 metre laps of the sports field to raise money for classroom and physical education resources.
The students received prizes based on how much they raised and the top fundraising junior and senior class received a pizza party and iPad for their class.
Physical education teacher Brad Crofts said the walk-a-thon was a popular fundraiser at the school as the students loved to dress up, get outside and walk to music.
He said in past years more than $10,000 had been raised and the school was hoping to repeat that.
"We had lots of parents and grandparent here to support and walk with their children and the school chaplain put on a barbecue breakfast for everyone," Mr Crofts said.
"While it is a fundraiser it is also about creating awareness about being healthy and exercising.
"With some of the money we raise we will buy some sporting equipment and jerseys and also some new house and school banners."
