THE Logan Village Craft Cottage members have been turning their talents towards creating something special for women fighting breast cancer.
The cottage's members have been hard at work creating "knitted knockers", for breast cancer patients.
The prosthetics are made in different cup sizes and are designed to go in the bra of patients who have had a mastectomy, giving them a lift to their confidence.
Craft Cottage president Rebecca Muir said the knockers were 100 per cent cotton and made to strict quality standards as they would be important to the people wearing them.
The cottage has knitted about 30 of the prosthetics with its members busying themselves over the past few weeks with the project.
"We're hoping to make 200 of them," Ms Muir said.
Ms Muir said it was a nice feeling knowing the Craft Cottage was making a difference, especially as breast cancer was such an important cause.
"It's always good to help," she said.
"Everyone knows someone affected by it. We've even had two ladies in the craft cottage affected by breast cancer."
Craft Cottage member Pat Baggs said making the prosthetics had been a rewarding experience.
"We had a bit of trouble to start with but once we got the hang of it we were right," she said.
"It's really good helping out."
Once completed, the prosthetics are being sent to the community centre in Victoria overseeing the project and co-ordinating the item distribution.
