FIVE-YEAR-OLD Ashtyn Jackson has raised more than $3000 after having his head shaved for charity.
The brave little boy made the decision to shave his head a couple of months ago and more than 100 people came out to support him on Saturday.
Ashtyn's mother Renee said it was an emotional moment for herself and husband Brodie as they shaved their son's head.
She said the normally shy boy was eager to get under way, sitting on the stool with a big grin on his face waiting for it to happen.
"I was told afterwards that the head shave was very moving, there weren't many dry eyes in the place," Ms Jackson said.
"What Ashtyn has shown many people is that age is no barrier to making a difference and also just what can be achieved when you step out of your comfort zone to help others.
"He told me afterwards that every time his hair grows back he wants to keep shaving it off for sick people, so maybe it will become an annual thing."
Ms Jackson said while Ashtyn raised another $550 on the day he also inspired three other children to want to shave their heads for charity.
Ashtyn's head shave took place at Parklands Christian College after Ms Jackson's Jimboomba Relay for Life team, Faith-Hope-Love, held its Brekky Boot Camp fundraiser.
They raised almost $1000 and together with Ashtyn's fundraising amount and money from other fundraisers, the team has raised a total of $10,000.
All money will go to Cancer Council Queensland.
