EMMAUS College year 12 student Jade Annakin has received the prestigious Pierre de Coubertin award.
Jade received the award from the Australian Olympic Committee after being nominated by her school for her sportsmanship and achievements.
Jade said she felt honoured to receive the award.
"At first I was overwhelmed but then it kind of sunk in and I felt proud of myself and excited as well," she said.
The awards program for high school students is named after the founder of the modern Olympics, Baron Pierre de Coubertin.
It is designed to emphasise participation and commendable sporting behaviour consistent with the Olympic Movement.
Throughout her time at Emmaus College Jade has competed in a range of sports.
She has represented her school at state athletics in the 400m, 200m and 100m and made the regional competition for cross country.
Jade has played rugby league with Jimboomba Thunder for the past two years and has also played touch football at a district level.
She said she loved playing team sports and tried to uphold the values of team work, fair play and sportsmanship while competing.
"I enjoy playing sport, especially in a team, and sportsmanship is important to me," Jade said.
Jade said she was planning to study exercise sports science at university next year.
"I would love a career involved with sports," she said.
